Konda Surekha Takes Charge as Minister, Creates Sensation With First Signature

Congress Ministers are taking charge one after the other in Telangana. On Sunday, Konda Surekha took charge as the Minister of Forest, Environment and Endowments. In the office on the fourth floor of the Secretariat, she took over the duties along with the family members after special pooja. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, several MLAs, Forest and Pollution Control Board officials, staff and political leaders attended the program and congratulated the Minister.

Minister’s first sign is to increase the compensation to the families of those killed in wild animal attacks from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakhs. Minister Surekha said that orders in this regard will be issued soon. Later, Minister Surekha conducted a review of the activities of the Forest Department. Forest Conservation Officer R.M. Dobrial explained this through a PowerPoint presentation. The minister also signed another file permitting to bringing of elephants from other states for various programs and festivals.

The Minister inquired about the increase in greenness so far and the targets for the next year through Harita Haram for Telangana. Minister Konda Surekha inquired about the implementation of Kampa funds and the works undertaken through this scheme and asked about the existing staff and new recruitment opportunities in the Forest and Revenue Department.

The minister called upon the staff and officers of the departments under his jurisdiction to work honestly, to work as a team to achieve the goals, and to work for environmental protection and greening. She said that department-wise full-scale reviews will be undertaken soon. On this occasion, the minister unveiled the posters prepared under the auspices of the Pollution Control Board.
