RS Praveen Kumar Restricted To 3rd Place: BSP Ineffective

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) could not make even the slightest impact in the Telangana Assembly elections. Despite contesting in 108 seats across the state, it could not win at least one seat. The party’s state president RS Praveen Kumar contested in the Sirpur constituency and was limited to the third position in the results. Even though it was campaigned that they would own the Dalit vote bank, they failed to garner that level of votes. In many places, the candidates of that party did not even get deposits.

In the 2014 assembly elections, the BSP got 1.35 percent votes, but in 2018, the vote share increased to 2.07 percent. There have been cases in the past when candidates who did not get tickets from major parties contested on BSP tickets and won. However, this time none of this worked. The vote share also fell to 1.40 percent. RS Praveen Kumar took charge as the state president of the party and went on a padayatra across the state. However, they could not make an impact in this assembly election.
