Safeguarding Caste Professions: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s Commitment and Initiatives

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has given assurance that the government is dedicated to safeguarding caste-based professions within the state. This commitment was reiterated during a meeting between Ponnam Prabhakar, the state president of Kummari Sangam Jayantrao, and state committee leaders of Kummara Sangam at the secretariat. The profession of potters, among the various caste-based occupations, is facing challenges, prompting the leaders to appeal to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar for intervention. They specifically requested the establishment of a vocational training center spanning 5 acres, equipped with modern machinery to revive the pottery profession.

Furthermore, they proposed the provision of free electricity for machine-operated earthenware production and advocated for the creation of shops in government spaces and markets to sell pottery. In response, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar assured the leaders of the potter’s association that his government is steadfast in its commitment to preserving caste-based professions. He conveyed the government’s dedication to taking additional measures to protect and promote these professions.

Subsequently, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended prayers at the MLA’s camp office in Husnabad, where he signed files and worshiped Gomata with his family. This marked the initiation of official activities at the camp office. Following the ritual, the minister engaged with activists, assuring the constituents of Husnabad that he will actively support the needs and concerns expressed by local activists.
