Amrit Bharat Initiative: 57 Railway Stations Selected for Modernization

Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, the central government is focusing on improving railway stations nationwide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off development projects for 550 stations on the 26th of this month. The plan includes creating rooftop plazas and enhancing city centres, with a budget of Rs. 40,000 crores. This will involve constructing 1,500 overbridges and underbridges at approximately 2,000 stations.

As part of the Amrit Bharat scheme, approximately 57 railway stations have been chosen from the Telugu states for development. In the Hyderabad Division, stations like Gadwal, Jadcherla, Shad Nagar, Vaja Nagar (Shamshabad), Yakhutpura, Medchal, Medak, Basara, Dharmabad, and Umri will undergo renovations. These upgrades will include improvements to platforms, waiting areas, solar power systems, parking areas, booking offices, escalators, and lifts.
