BCCI’s Revolutionizing Decision Regarding Women’s Cricket

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delivered positive news to the Indian women’s cricket team. Following Harmanpreet Sena’s outstanding performance against top cricket teams, a compulsory provision prohibiting domestic red ball cricket for women, similar to men’s cricket, has been rescinded. Many cricket analysts and Indian cricket enthusiasts have advocated for women to participate in competitions akin to the Ranji Trophy. In response to this, the BCCI has made a significant decision, announcing the inclusion of red ball cricket for women.

As per BCCI sources, these matches are scheduled to take place in a zonal format during March-April. Women cricketers are gearing up for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), and the commencement of women’s red ball cricket is expected soon after the conclusion of this major tournament. The format is reported to resemble the Men’s Duleep Trophy system. While men’s red ball cricket spans four days, the women’s matches will be three-day affairs, culminating in a four-day final.
