T20 World Cup 2024: Unique Schedule With Unprecedented 20 Teams

After the ODI World Cup in India, all eyes are now on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC, which gave festival-like news to the cricket fans, has revealed the full details of this mega tournament. The competition will be held from June 3 to 20. The 2022 T20 World Cup was held in Australia. Next year, the West Indies and the United States Of America will co-host the T20 World Cup.

This time, there will be a competition between 20 teams in an unprecedented manner. Matches will be organized in a total of 10 venues. While five venues are in America, the remaining five venues will be in the Caribbean islands. It is reported that ICC has already finalized five venues in America. In addition to Florida, Morrisville, Dallas, New York, and Lauderhill are included.

This tournament will be held grandly with a total of 55 matches. While 16 games will be held in America, the main matches, including the Super-8 matches, will be held in the West Indies. India and Pakistan, who have been in the same group in the ICC tournament since 2013, are going to be in the same group this time as well.

Schedule Of Matches

The tournament was different this time as more teams were playing. Previously, Super-12 matches were played after the first round. But this time, 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each. After that, the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for Super-8. Then, eight teams will be divided into two groups. From there, the four best teams will qualify for the semis.

Qualified Teams

Meanwhile, the West Indies and America, as host countries, will automatically get a place in the tournament. Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh teams are in the top 10 in the ICC rankings and therefore qualified for the tournament. Scotland (Europe Qualifier), Ireland (Europe Qualifier), Papua New Guinea (East-Asia Pacific Qualifier), Nepal, Oman, Canada, Africa, Namibia, and Uganda teams are qualified through qualifier matches.
