AP Cabinet Meeting: What Are the Key Decisions?

CM YS Jagan led a cabinet meeting at the state secretariat on Wednesday morning. The state cabinet made many important decisions in this meeting. For the fiscal year 2024-25, the state cabinet approved the vote-on-account budget along with several other important decisions.

Key decisions approved

  • Approval granted for a new Horticultural Food Processing Polytechnic College in Dhone, Nandyal District
  • The Horticultural Polytechnic College will operate under the purview of Dr. YSR Horticultural University.
  • In Dhone, an Agricultural Polytechnic College offering a two-year diploma course in agriculture will be established under the aegis of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University.
  • The cabinet approved three private universities under the brownfield category by amending the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2016.
  • The cabinet has given the green signal for the establishment of Annamacharya University in Rajampeta, Annamayya district, Godavari Global University in Rajahmundry, East Godavari district, and Aditya University in Surampalem, Kakinada district.
  • The cabinet approved the Governor’s speech as well.

Major support for welfare

Minister Buggana Rajendra Prasad introduced the vote-on-account in the AP Assembly. The AP cabinet has approved the vote-on-account budget. Along with a big boost for welfare, Finance Minister Rajendra Prasad stated that priority was given to the underprivileged and weaker sections. Similarly, he mentioned that priority was also given to education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and the elderly. The cabinet also approved three key bills introduced today: the RJUKT University Amendment Bill -2024, the AP Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfer Amendment) Bill -2024, and the Employees Appointments, Regularization, and Rationalization Amendment Bill -2024.
