AP Elections: Can a Single Announcement Change the Pulse of the People?

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, where YSRCP’s victory played a crucial role, the election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) entered active politics and ultimately became a political mendicant in his home state of Bihar, according to YSRCP leaders. They allege that Prashant Kishor’s party will face a humiliating defeat in Bihar, without direction or support. Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh, they claim that Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan are prepared for defeat. However, Prashant Kishor’s comments on the upcoming elections and the effectiveness of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes are causing a stir in politics. YSRCP leaders criticize PK for overestimating his influence, suggesting that a single announcement cannot change public opinion and dismissing his capabilities as a significant political strategist.

Free Advice on Manifesto

Critics are saying that Prashant Kishor may end up taking retirement from politics, just like Lagadapati Rajagopal did after making inaccurate predictions. They argue that Prashant Kishor’s surveys in Andhra Pradesh are not reflective of the truth and predict that his estimations will be proven wrong this time. Many believe that the defeat of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan in the state is inevitable, a sentiment echoed by the general public as well. If Chandrababu Naidu were expected to win, it’s noteworthy that Prashant Kishor advised him to include welfare promises and free schemes in the manifesto, highlighting the strategic approach to winning elections.

It is known that Prashant Kishor visited Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Undavalli. Based on various survey reports indicating TDP’s certain defeat in the state, he left after expressing his inability to assist in strategizing for the upcoming elections. The recent meeting at Chandrababu’s house is being questioned as the reason why Prashant Kishor would claim that people would vote for Chandrababu, who has neither implemented DBT nor development. Moreover, with Prashant Kishor establishing his own party in Bihar and failing to win, people are doubting how the people of Andhra Pradesh would believe his words.
