AP Government Wins SKOCH Award for Excellent Governance

Andhra Pradesh is setting an example for the whole of India with its exemplary governance and the collective efforts of the village secretariat system. As a part of this, Andhra Pradesh’s departments of rural development, housing, and revenue have received unprecedented recognition. Andhra Pradesh has been recognized as a state adopting best governance practices, securing the prestigious 3rd position in the “SKOCH State of Governance Report-2023” among all states in the country. Andhra Pradesh, which was in the 4th position last year, has advanced to the 3rd position under the leadership of CM Jagan.

Setting a Benchmark for States

The national recognition awarded to Andhra Pradesh’s Department of Rural Development is a direct result of the exemplary methods and revolutionary reforms implemented by CM Jagan in the state. The innovative reforms led by CM Jagan in rural governance have served as a model for numerous states at a national level. Andhra Pradesh achieved successful outcomes in rural development through transparency in governance and bringing government services directly to the people. This is evidenced by the recent achievement of 3rd place in the Star of Governance report. Odisha emerged as the state with the best performance.

Top Five Rankings

In the survey conducted by the SKOCH group, apart from Andhra Pradesh, no other southern state managed to rank in the top five for governance. Odisha ranked first, Uttar Pradesh second, Andhra Pradesh third, Maharashtra fourth, and Gujarat fifth in the standings. SKOCH noted that Andhra Pradesh ranked third due to its village secretariat system in rural development, excellent governance in housing construction, and welfare schemes in the revenue department.
