AP Govt Realises Decades-Long Dream: Ramayapatnam Port is Completed!

The Ramayapatnam Port, initiated by CM Jagan in June 2022, is nearing completion along with the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbor. The modernization of Kakinada Anchorage Port is also underway and is set to enhance its capacity. The AP government achieved a milestone by finishing the port’s work in just 18 months, costing Rs.4,902 crores. Plans to operationalize the port by January or February are in progress.

The first phase includes four berths, and the completion of construction works signals the imminent arrival of the first ship. The port’s development is expected to provide employment opportunities for local youth, aligning with CM Jagan’s commitment to allocate 75 percent of jobs to locals. Additionally, completion of all ten ports in the state is targeted by 2025, potentially offering employment to around one lakh fishermen families and preventing migration for work.

The AP Government is investing Rs.20,000 crore to develop ports and fishing harbours every 50 km along the Andhra Pradesh coast. Construction is underway for Bhavanapadu, Kakinada Gateway Port, Machilipatnam, and Ramayapatnam ports, along with 10 fishing harbours and 6 fish landing centres. Additionally, Visakhapatnam has five non-major ports, including Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada Deepwater, Kakinada Anchorage, and Ravva Captive Port. This initiative aims to maximize the utilization of the coastal area, a unique development plan in the country.
