AP Volunteers Prepare to Fight the Government Amid Uncertainty About Their Future

On several occasions, alliance leaders in AP have criticized the volunteers harshly. However, the coalition leaders, who believed that volunteers’ help was crucial to their rise to power, then sought to appease them. TDP President and CM Chandrababu Naidu had previously announced that they would continue with the volunteers even after coming to power and would give them Rs10 thousand as an honorarium. But after they came to power, the current looks different.

Currently, no one is paying attention to the volunteers. Recently, the AP government distributed pensions. However, the government distributed pensions to the elderly, widows, and the disabled with the help of secretariat staff, not volunteers. So, what about the volunteers? The campaign suggesting the government will remove them is going on vigorously. This has given rise to impatience among the volunteers. They are worried about being fired.

In this context, as the present government has not taken any decision or given any assurance on the volunteer system, the volunteers called for the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program today, seeking security for the volunteer system. But, the Andhra Pradesh state government did not give any permission for this program, creating a tense atmosphere. Vijayawada Police reacted to the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program. They revealed that there is no permission for the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program tomorrow. Also, they stated that they have not received any application for permission.

Against this background, the police are ready to suppress the volunteers with an iron fist if they proceed with the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program. Police have informed the volunteers that Section 144, along with Section 30, is in force in the Vijayawada Commissionerate. Additionally, the police have taken extensive security measures near the railway station and bus stand to detain volunteers coming to Vijayawada city from other areas.
