BC Caste Census Begins In AP, Minister Lauds Jagan’s Daring Step

The BC caste census process has started in Andhra Pradesh. BC Welfare Minister Chelluboina Venugopala Krishna launched the program in Nelaparthipadu village of Ramachandrapuram mandal of Ambedkar Konaseema district.

Minister Venu spoke about this process. He revealed that CM Jagan has taken the initiative of doing the BC caste census, which no chief minister has done in the past. He added that even though the caste census was conducted in Bihar, it was limited to only one social group. He said that the caste census process will be completed at a record level. He said that CM Jagan is supporting the development of all castes in the state.

He said that while the caste census was done before independence, only the population census was done after independence, but no caste census was done. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a historic decision to take into consideration the sentiments of BC castes and to do justice to them.

The Minister said that he felt it was an honour for him as the BC Minister to carry out caste census in some districts experimentally in some districts of the state in order to provide equal opportunities to those communities who are living in poverty and who are considered to be a curse of poverty.
