Big Blow to Chandrababu? Alliance with BJP Still in Doubt

Chandrababu, the TDP chief, has been pushing for an alliance with the BJP lately. Previously, the TDP and BJP were allies from 2014 to 2019, but before the 2019 elections, the TDP ended the alliance and contested alone, resulting in defeat. Now, Chandrababu, in collaboration with Janasena, seeks to join hands with the BJP again to avoid a similar outcome. He recently visited Delhi to meet with BJP leaders and discuss potential alliances.

Shock for Chandrababu!

Daggubati Purandeswari, the state president of the party, announced that they have finalized lists of potential candidates to contest for BJP in all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state. However, she clarified that there haven’t been any talks regarding alliances. Purandeswari mentioned that they’ve extensively discussed political and social conditions across 26 districts and 175 assembly seats, covering topics like candidate selection and social outreach. She emphasized that decisions, including alliances, lie with the party’s high command. Her recent statements have sparked speculation that there might not be an alliance with TDP.

Previous reports suggested that several leaders had joined the BJP but remained loyal to Chandrababu Babu’s interests. AP BJP president Purandeswari, who switched from Congress to BJP, was also rumoured to have pursued an alliance with TDP. Despite this, Chandrababu persisted in proposing an alliance with the BJP. However, recent reports indicate that BJP leadership, well aware of Chandrababu’s tactics, is moving cautiously regarding alliances.
