Chandrababu is criticizing the volunteer system.

Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy will give cash awards today in Phirangipuram, Guntur district, to volunteers for their great work. This time, the government has significantly increased the cash rewards. Under the ‘Seva Mitra’ award, 250,439 volunteers across the state will each receive Rs. 15,000 in cash.

The government initially considered giving Rs. 20,000 to each ‘Seva Mitra’ award recipient, but it has to be said that TDP has obstructed this matter. TDP leader Chandrababu and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan, who are already criticizing the volunteer system, are objecting to giving cash incentives to volunteers. It is reported that TDP leaders have also attempted to bring this issue to the attention of the Election Commission by filing a complaint. Jagan has realized that there is also a risk of the BJP at the centre supporting them (TDP). When the government sought legal advice on this matter, they were also advised to increase the amount by only Rs. 5,000. Against the backdrop of these events, CM Jagan, perceiving a potential threat to the integrity of the volunteer system which is pivotal in public governance, has opted to modestly retract and is now awarding Rs. 15,000. But soon, CM Jagan plans to properly honour the ‘Seva Mitra’ volunteers as well.

It’s ironic that Chandrababu, who distributed Rs. 10,000 to women under the ‘Pasupu-Kumkuma’ scheme like distributing lentils and jaggery during the last assembly elections, is now criticizing the volunteers. Under the ‘Pasupu-Kumkuma’ scheme, Chandrababu distributed cash indiscriminately. But the volunteer system is not like that; it’s a part of the government. What’s wrong with giving cash rewards to those who play a crucial role in implementing welfare schemes? But none of these arguments convince them. Pawan Kalyan is accusing volunteers of committing murders and assaults, manipulating their sentiments. In this scenario, there’s a widespread discussion that if a TDP-Janaseena government is formed in the upcoming assembly elections, it could lead to the end of the volunteer system. Janmabhoomi committees would be set up, putting people in a situation where they have to depend solely on TDP workers for assistance.
