CM Jagan Announces Good News for Ration Card Holders

The Jagan government has announced good news for those with ration cards. Aiming for nutritional security, the government has decided to distribute millet flour to the public starting from March 1st. While millet flour currently retails at Rs. 40 per kilogram in the market, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced a subsidized rate of just Rs. 11 per kilogram, as stated by officials. This program will first roll out in the form of 1-kilogram packets in the Northern Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, prioritizing nutritional security.

A Kilogram of Millet Flour for Each Card

It is already known that ration beneficiaries are being provided with millet/jowar instead of a kilo of rice per card. As part of this initiative, a decision has been made to provide another item. To further enhance convenience for the beneficiaries, the State Civil Supplies Department plans to distribute a kilogram of millet flour to each cardholder. This provision is being added to the existing distribution. Currently, millets are being procured in the districts of Sri Sathya Sai, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Jowar in Anantapur, Nandyal, YSR, and Kurnool districts.

Distribution Initially in These Districts Only

The government, striving to provide quality products to ration beneficiaries, plans to distribute millet flour initially in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, and Visakhapatnam. Similarly, arrangements are being made to make it available in the Rayalaseema regions of Kadapa, Annamayya, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Chittoor, Tirupati, Kurnool, and Nandyal. It is understood that the rate has been set to cover only the expenses incurred for processing the millets into flour, including milling, packaging, and transportation.
