CM Jagan Announces Important Update on ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ Kits

It is evident that the education sector in Andhra Pradesh has seen significant advancement since the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) assumed power. CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is bringing revolutionary changes in the education sector, filling the lives of students and parents with joy. By introducing wonderful schemes like Amma Vodi, Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, and Jagananna Vidya Deevena, he is steering students’ futures towards a golden path. Many poor and middle-class families are benefiting from the ‘Vidyakanuka’ scheme which is being implemented ambitiously by the government.

Kits for 39,51,827 students

The government has recently announced another piece of good news regarding the ‘Vidya Kanuka’ scheme. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, officials have announced that the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ kits are being prepared for the 2024-25 academic year. Officials stated that ‘Vidya Kanuka’ kits, comprising 10 items, will be distributed to 39,51,827 students studying from 1st to 10th grade across 44,617 schools throughout the state. The government has already approved funds of Rs. 1000 crores for this purpose. They clarified that the ‘Vidya Kanuka’ kits (JVK-5) will be distributed to students on the first day of the upcoming academic year when schools reopen.

What’s in the kit?

Each student will receive a complimentary ‘Vidya Kanuka’ kit from the government, comprising textbooks in English and Telugu, notebooks, workbooks, and three sets of uniform fabric, inclusive of stitching charges. Additionally, the kit will include a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, a belt, a school bag, an Oxford English-Telugu dictionary for students in grades 6-10, and a pictorial dictionary for students in grades 1-5. This means each student benefits from the kit with an estimated value of Rs. 2,400. Moreover, every item provided in this kit will be of high quality. The kit will undergo quality tests in four stages, including assessments by the Quality Council of India, to ensure its standard.
