CM Jagan’s Tenure: Unemployment Rate Comes Down In AP

The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) has revealed that the unemployment rate in AP is 4.1 per cent. A report containing the statistics on the unemployment rate of all the states of the country has been released recently. The unemployment rate came down to 4.1 per cent in 2022-23 from 5.8 per cent in 2018-19. If we look at the age group, this unemployment rate has been recorded among those above 15 years of age. While the unemployment rate in Telangana is 4.4 per cent, it is 4.1 per cent in AP, so many people say that the employment generation is good in Andhra Pradesh.

Better Employment Opportunities

After CM Jagan came to power in AP, he filled government jobs on the one hand and put a lot of concentration on the establishment of micro, small, and medium-scale industries. This has improved the employment opportunities in the state. The number of unemployed in rural and urban areas has also decreased in 2022-23 as compared to 2018-19. In particular, the government introduced the secretariat system in the state has recruited ten employees for each secretariat in the villages and 11 employees for the ward secretariat in the towns. So far, 4.93 lakh jobs have been filled, of which 2.13 lakh are permanent jobs.

More Employment Opportunities

2.5 lakh MSME units were established during YSRCP’s tenure, and 16.5 lakh new people got employment. Around 1.2 lakh students have already secured campus placements. On the one hand, women were given financial assistance through schemes like YSR Cheyutha, YSR Asara, and Kapu Nestham to start small businesses. As a result, lakhs of women are self-employed. On the other hand, the government is giving utmost priority to the establishment of micro, small and medium industries with the aim of providing employment opportunities to the local youth. Now, there is a possibility of further reduction of unemployment in the state.
