Hospital Opening: CM Jagan’s Permanent Solution For Uddanam Victims

People of Uddanam from Palasa, Srikakulam district need no introduction. They have been suffering from kidney diseases from drinking contaminated water due to lack of drinking water for many years. Although many governments have come, they have not worked to solve their problems. Today, their sufferings have come to an end. For that, CM Jagan has taken up works worth about Rs.785 crores, to solve their problems.

An End to Drinking Water Struggles

Today he visited Palasa as part of his Srikakulam district tour. To solve the drinking water problem of the Uddanam people, the CM inaugurated the pump house of the YSR Sujala Dhara project built at a cost of Rs.700 crores.

All the villages in 7 mandals where chronic kidney diseases are prevalent in the Uddanaman region will get purified safe drinking water through the ‘YSR Sujala Dhara project’. Safe drinking water will be supplied to 807 villages in 7 mandals under Palasa and Ichapuram constituencies by taking water from the Hiramandalam reservoir and purifying it.

The region has an existing population of 6.78 lakh. With an estimate that their number will reach 7.85 lakhs by 2051, the project was designed and constructed to supply water at the rate of 100 litres per person per day to meet future needs. While water is already being supplied to 613 villages, by the end of this month, the rest of the villages will also get water.

Treatment of Kidney Disease at Corporate Level

On the other hand, the government has taken steps to solve the problems of kidney disease patients. To this extent, in Palasa the government built the Dr YSR Kidney Research and Super Speciality Hospital, a 200-bed hospital that is better than any corporate hospital, at a cost of Rs.85 crores. Today, CM Jagan dedicated it to the nation.

Officials have taken measures to provide free treatment to kidney patients in this hospital. Also, all types of kidney diseases will be investigated. In this hospital, special wards have been built for casualty, radio diagnosis, pathology, microbiology, biochemistry lab, central lab, nephrology, urology, general medicine, surgery, dialysis, post-operative, ICU and research lab.

Also, ICU facilities have been established along with CT Scan, 2D Echo, High-End Color Doppler, Mobile X-Ray, Thulium Laser Euro Dynamic Machine and other equipment. 42 specialist doctors in fields like general medicine, general surgery, urology, and nephrology, 60 staff nurses and 60 other support staff have been appointed to serve the victims.

On the other hand, former CBI JD Lakshminarayana reacted to the measures taken by CM Jagan while checking the drinking water problems of the people of Uddanam and the sufferings of kidney patients. He thanked CM Jagan, district minister Seediri Appalaraju and health minister Vidadala Rajini for building the drinking water project, kidney research centre and hospital for solving their problems.
