Jagan vs Chandrababu: Manifesto War in AP politics!

The AP Elections will be held in a few months. Meanwhile, it is known that the TDP-Janasena alliance is competing for victory in this election against the ruling YSRCP. At this juncture, criticism has started on the first phase election manifesto announced by TDP leader Chandrababu titled ‘Babu Surety-Bhavisyathuku Guarantee’. Many questions are arising since TDP announced that as soon as they come to power, they will implement more schemes. Chandrababu’s criticism of the welfare schemes introduced by Jagan earlier is coming to the fore. Previously, he campaigned on a large scale that AP would become another Sri Lanka with the welfare schemes implemented by CM Jagan. Now TDP has taken a turn towards the same welfare. “Will AP become Sri Lanka only with Jagan’s welfare schemes while it will become Singapore with Babu’s schemes?” Many people are asking this question.

Is Babu Copying Jagan?

Chandrababu is copying Navratna schemes implemented by the Jagan government. In the recent Mahasabha held at the time of the elections, TDP chief Chandrababu announced that he would bring new schemes under the name of welfare. Meanwhile, women’s self-sufficiency, employment for youth, free assistance of Rs 10 thousand for auto owners, increase in pension for senior citizens, tax waiver for farmers’ tractors, Rs 75 thousand in four years for BC, ST, SC and minority women who completed 45 years, and loan amount of DWCRA for women in four instalments. It is noteworthy that Chandrababu has again given the assurances that Jagan announced as part of the Navratnas that he promised the last election. In this background, Jagan has earned the trust of the people. Does Babu have that trust? Such criticism is surfacing.

Babu on the welfare route.. do you believe him?

TDP announced six promises in its first manifesto. Rs 15,000 per year in the name of ‘Thalliki Vandanam’, free education for all, free travel in RTC buses for women, three free cylinders per year under the Deepam scheme, Rs 1,500 per month under the Girl Child Fund, Rs 20,000 per year under the Annadatha Scheme for every farmer, and financial assistance of Rs 3,000 and door-to-door tap were given to the unemployed. Meanwhile, the fact that Chandrababu, who had criticised YS Jagan repeatedly in the past, also took the welfare route during the election has opened up a widespread debate. But it is still doubtful to what extent people will believe Babu when he says that he will implement the same welfare more efficiently. People are also asking him to explain what happened to the 600 assurances mentioned in 150 pages of Chandrababu’s assurances given in 2014.
