Skill Scam: Chandrababu gets a shock from SC, may go to jail again!

Former chief minister, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu got an unexpected shock in the skill development scam case. He faced a severe defeat in the Supreme Court. The AP government went to the Supreme Court on the cases filed against him and sent him to jail, but the bench gave him a hard time. The court has made it clear that the AP CID’s ‘authority to remand’, which was challenged by Chandrababu, is reasonable. From the beginning, the arguments on ‘Governor’s permission’ have not been very strong. The highest court of the country said that the Governor’s permission can be taken now. Chandrababu is furious with this clarification. While they were expecting a verdict in their favour, the court’s comments against Chandrababu are creating a new wave in AP politics.

It is known that Chandrababu was arrested in the skill development scam case and spent almost two months in jail. Ever since the case was registered, TDP leaders have been roaming around the courts. On that occasion, a quash petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding this matter. The two-judge bench heard arguments on this petition on Tuesday and gave contrasting verdicts. The Babu faction was upset when the two judges also made it clear that they could not stop the remand.

In the arguments on the power to impose remand, the Supreme Court said that ‘the power of remand is fully vested with the trial court i.e. the ACB Court in Vijayawada’. It is noteworthy that the judgment given by the bench comprising Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M Trivedi was reported to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Now Chandrababu’s future is in the hands of CJI. Now there is a fierce debate in AP about what kind of decision the Chief Justice will issue.

This latest Supreme Court verdict has caused a political upheaval in AP. Chandrababu, who is currently on bail, is not immune from being remanded once again. The ranks of the Telugu Desam Party are now panicking. At the time of the elections, this development does not bode well for TDP.
