Thalapathy Vijay’s Political Move Raises Comparisons with Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena

Tamil actor Vijay has recently launched the ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ party and announced that it will not contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, opting not to support any other party. However, the party intends to participate in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, contesting in all seats. This development has sparked comparisons with Telugu actor and Janasena Party founder Pawan Kalyan.

While Vijay entered politics a decade after founding Janasena. Pawan Kalyan has been active in politics for several years. Despite forming Janasena before the 2014 elections, Pawan Kalyan supported alliances with different parties in subsequent elections. The decision to align with TDP in the upcoming elections has drawn criticism, with political analysts questioning Pawan Kalyan’s unilateral declaration of the alliance without considering seat distribution.

Critics point out that Janasena’s performance in Telangana, where it contested eight seats in alliance with the BJP, was disappointing, with none of its candidates securing deposits. The lack of recognition and viable candidates to contest in at least 50 seats is seen as a challenge for Janasena in future elections.

Moreover, Pawan Kalyan’s perceived non-serious approach to politics in Telangana has led to skepticism about his performance in Andhra Pradesh. Critics suggest that Pawan Kalyan may face challenges similar to those in Telangana, with concerns that he might miss opportunities and remain a double-edged sword for the party.
