YSRCP’s Election Strategy: From Ordinary Activists to Election Candidates

In today’s political climate, politics are intertwined with money, presenting numerous obstacles for a common activist aspiring to rise. No matter how hard they work for the party, recognition eludes them. Typically, party leaders exploit activists for carrying flags and campaigning, only to disregard them later. Such activists do not receive appropriate recognition within the party. However, the YSRCP leader and CM Jagan did not follow this practice. Acknowledging their efforts in building the party, CM called them for the upcoming elections and offered them positions. CM Jagan once again proved that common activists are his strength by doing so.

In a political climate where party leaders often negotiate over candidate seats, awarding a ticket to an ordinary worker is seen as a significant move by analysts. Some parties deny tickets to deserving candidates citing lack of funds, while others demand large sums of money for a seat, essentially saying no money means no seat. Recent allegations have surfaced from hopeful candidates about such practices. Amidst these circumstances, CM Jagan’s decision to award a ticket to a worker without expecting anything in return is considered a testament to his generosity, setting a positive example amidst the prevalent culture of monetary influence in politics.

Before Chandrababu Naidu’s entry into politics, ordinary workers used to engage in political activities. However, after his arrival, the practice of setting a price for votes began, marking the commercialization of politics. If someone desires an MLA ticket, considerations such as how much money they have, how much they can spend, and how much they can contribute to the party become crucial. Political analysts suggest that decisions are made based on these financial capabilities, leading to a scenario where only wealthy individuals can secure TDP tickets. This situation has essentially turned TDP leaders into millionaires, leaving people to ponder whether they will elect a leader who genuinely considers their welfare or continue to support leaders who prioritize money over public service.
