Centre announces increases in PM-Kisan scheme funds for farmers

It is known that the central government is providing financial assistance of Rs. 6 thousand per year to the farmers in the name of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. But recently, the news that the amount to be paid to the beneficiaries under this scheme will be increased has created a stir on social media. In this context, Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda made a key statement on this news. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, the minister said that there is no proposal to increase the financial benefit to farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme to Rs 8,000-12,000 per annum. Also, there is no proposal under this scheme to give an increase to women farmers as well, he said.

Deposited in 11 crore accounts in 15 instalments:

In 2019, the Center launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Through this scheme, every eligible farmer will get Rs 6000 as investment assistance every year. Every year, the government is depositing three instalments of Rs 2,000 in the farmers’ accounts. So far it has distributed more than Rs 2.81 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers in 15 installments.
