As this is the election season, petrol and diesel prices have been stable for a few months. On 22 May 2022, the Modi government last reduced the prices of petrol and diesel. Since then the prices have stayed high compared to the past. If the prices are reduced once again, petrol is likely to reach Rs. 100. People are happy with this news. Meanwhile, the opposition is criticizing it as an election gimmick. The Congress and TMC parties are criticizing the BJP government for conspiring to cheat the people by reducing fuel prices ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
