EC Clarifies Aadhaar Not Mandatory for Voting

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, the Central Election Commission has issued an important clarification. They’ve dismissed the requirement for an Aadhaar card for voting in the upcoming elections. Instead, any other valid identity card can be used for voting. Chief Commissioner Rajeev Kumar emphasized this point and highlighted increased vigilance against fraudulent votes. Thousands of duplicate votes have already been eliminated, and individuals with votes in multiple locations are encouraged to voluntarily cancel one of them.

These campaigns will include organizing awareness programs in banks and post office branches. It has been clarified that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the Department of Posts to facilitate this initiative.
