Elections 2023: Polling Begins In Two States.. Here Is Voter Turn Out

As part of the assembly elections of 5 states, which are said to be the semifinals for the general elections, polling is going on in two states today. Elections are being held for all 40 assembly segments in Mizoram in a single phase and 20 constituencies in Chhattisgarh in the first phase. Both the Election Commission and the Police have taken measures for the first phase of the 2023 Assembly Elections. The polling is being carried out peacefully. In Chhattisgarh, The Election Commission has announced that 10 percent voting has been recorded till 9 AM. On the other hand, in Mizoram, 12.8 percent polling was recorded till 10 AM.

In Chhattisgarh, 12 of the 20 seats where the first phase of polling is being conducted have been identified as Maoist-affected areas. Security has been tightened in these areas. There are 12 assembly seats in Bastar itself. 60 thousand security personnel have been deployed in this area. Due to warnings of an election boycott by Maoists, their movements are being regularly monitored by drones and helicopters.

In Chhattisgarh, 223 candidates, including 25 women, are in the fray in the first phase. Their political fate will be decided by 40,78,681 voters. There are 19,93,937 male voters, 20,84,675 female voters and 69 third-gender voters in the voter list. Meanwhile, Congress is looking strong in Chhattisgarh, where it is already in power.

Elections for 40 assembly seats in Mizoram will be held simultaneously without any phases. The total number of voters in Mizoram is 8,51,895, out of which 4,12,969 are male, 4,38,925 are female and 1 voter is under third gender. There are a total of 174 candidates in the election ring.
