UP: Former BJP MP’s Son Dies, Lucknow Hospital’s Negligence Suspected

Prakash Mishra (41), son of former Uttar Pradesh MP and BJP leader Bhairon Mishra, passed away due to lack of beds in the emergency ward in Lucknow’s SGPGIMS hospital. Bhairon Mishra staged a dharna in front of the emergency ward, alleging that the doctor’s negligence was the cause of his son’s death. Responding to this, the higher authorities issued orders suspending the doctor.

Is It The Hospital’s Doing?

Bhairon Mishra has accused the doctors of negligence at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) hospital in Lucknow. When he brought his son suffering from a kidney problem to the hospital, he said that there were no beds available in the emergency ward. The staff there did not make any attempt to treat his son. He expressed grief that his son died because of this negligence.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Sharp Criticism

Former Chief Minister of UP and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav reacted strongly to this incident. He criticized that this incident reflects the lack of facilities in the state’s hospitals. Akhilesh Yadav was furious that the Yogi government was not allocating funds for better facilities in hospitals. “If the ruling BJP’s former MP’s son does not get treatment, what will be the condition of common people?” he questioned. He criticized that the minister may respond to this incident only after finishing election campaigns for the BJP in other states because now elections are more important to them than anyone’s life.
