Narendra Modi Set to Become 2nd PM After Nehru to Secure Third Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will create a record in Indian politics. Apart from Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister, no one else has ascended to the post of Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will equal that record. Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, served as Prime Minister for a total of 16 years and 282 days. He died while serving as Prime Minister. After that, no one else has become Prime Minister three times in a row. That honour now goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has to be noted that former PM Nehru had secured full majorities for Congress in all four of his terms as PM whereas Modi’s expected third term involves a coalition government.
