In the recent general elections, it is known that the top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested and won from Wayanad in Kerala and Rae Bareli in UP. However, he has to resign from one of these two positions. Reports indicate that he will retain the Rae Bareli seat and resign from the Wayanad seat. Although Rahul Gandhi has not yet made a final decision on this, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President K. Sudhakaran recently hinted that the Wayanad seat may become vacant.

In this context, it is interesting to see who will compete for that position. There are rumours that Rahul’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will make her election debut from Wayanad. Rahul’s decision to contest Rae Bareli and his subsequent victory ended the long suspense. Recently, Congress leaders stated that Priyanka stayed away from the contest to focus on the wider campaign in the general elections. However, they mentioned that she could enter Parliament through a by-election. Therefore, it is strongly speculated that she will contest in the Wayanad by-election.
