Tension Mounts in Bihar: Assembly to Undergo Crucial Floor Test
Tension grips Bihar as the state’s CM, Nitish Kumar, leading the National Democratic Alliance government, is set to prove its majority today. It is known that he recently formed a new government with the NDA after parting ways with Mahagathbandhan. The political parties in the state have launched into full-fledged campaign politics on Sunday. A total of 79 MLAs from the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have been staying at the residence of former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav for the past two days.

How Many Supporters Are Needed?
Out of the 19 MLAs belonging to Congress, 16 went to Hyderabad and then directly proceeded to Mr Yadav’s residence. Similarly, 16 MLAs from the Left parties also joined them there. A total of 114 MLAs who spent the night at Mr Yadav’s residence are set to leave for the assembly on Monday. With 243 members in the Bihar assembly, a minimum of 122 MLAs’ support is needed to form the government. The NDA government, buoyed by confidence, holds the support of 128 MLAs, asserting its anticipated victory. This strength comprises 78 MLAs from the BJP, 45 from the JD(U), and four from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular).
