Case Against KTR-Goreti Venkanna Interview After Congress Complain To RO

Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the BRS Party, is campaigning extensively during the Telangana Assembly elections. In this context, he is giving interviews to TV channels and other prominent people. Recently, there was a huge controversy over the interview given to poet and MLC Goreti Venkanna. Recently a case has been registered over the conduct of that interview.

Goreti Venkanna interviewed Minister KTR on the occasion of the elections. That interview was distributed to many channels and other YouTube channels. The interview got a great response. Meanwhile, a dispute erupted over where this interview was held. The interview was conducted on the premises of the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial.

Why The Controversy?

Goreti Venkanna and KTR sat in front of the Telangana Thalli statue and gave an interview. Political activities should not be held in government offices, government buildings and offices during elections. Doing so is a crime under Election Commission rules. As the memorial structure is a government building, it is a violation of the rules to conduct an interview in that building.

The leaders of the Congress Party complained to the Election Commission that the interview was conducted in violation of the rules. On the instructions of the Returning Officer, the Saifabad police in Hyderabad have registered a case against those who conducted the interview. However, it is not clear who organised the interview. The question of whether it was a BRS Representative or someone else who organised it is being investigated by the police.
