Criminal Cases On Telangana Assembly Candidates.. Who Has How Many?

A total of 360 candidates from major parties are contesting for 119 constituencies in Telangana Legislative Assembly elections. ‘Forum for Good Governance’ says that 226 of them have criminal records. They scrutinized the election affidavits of all candidates and released the data of candidates with criminal records. Forum for Good Governance representatives say that giving tickets to candidates with a criminal history is not good for democracy.

Cases Against Candidates Of Major Parties

The forum said that political parties have allotted tickets to candidates with a criminal history, setting aside the Supreme Court guidelines. It is said that there are criminal cases against candidates in all major parties. It revealed that no matter which party wins, more than 60 percent of the candidates with criminal history will be in the assembly this time. Forum for Good Governance claimed that Telangana is likely to be in the top five in India in terms of MLAs with criminal history.

Who Has More Cases?

Among the BRS candidates, Gangula Kamalakar has 10 cases, KCR has 9 cases, KT Rama Rao has 8 cases, Sabitha Indra Reddy has 5 cases, Saidireddy has 5 cases and Harish Rao has 3 cases. Among the Congress candidates, there are 89 cases against TPCC president Revanth Reddy, 52 cases against Khanapur candidate Vedma Bojju Patel, 32 cases against Kokkirala Prem Sagar Rao, 24 cases against Purumalla Srinivas, 20 cases against Jagga Reddy, 18 cases against Medipally Satyam. In BJP, there are 89 cases against Raja Singh, 59 against Bandi Sanjay, 55 against Soyam Bapu Rao, 40 against Etela Rajender, 20 against Raghunandan Rao and 17 against Dharmapuri Arvind.
