TSRTC Discontinues ‘Men Only’ Bus Service

The Telangana government has implemented the Mahalakshmi scheme, offering free travel services for women on RTC buses. Subsequently, there has been a surge in congestion within RTC buses, primarily attributed to an increased number of female passengers. The increase in the number of women in buses has made it difficult for male passengers to secure seats. There is a growing demand for buses exclusively designated for men. During the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme, RTC MD Sajjanar mentioned that special buses would be introduced for men if the necessity arises.

Following this directive, a specialized bus service exclusively for male passengers has been introduced at the Ibrahimpatnam bus depot. The bus service, which commenced last Monday, operated between Ibrahimpatnam and LB Nagar. The service was discontinued after only three days of operation. On Thursday, the officials overseeing the service made the decision to cancel it. On Thursday, a post featuring ‘special bus for men’ became popular on social media. The cancellation of the service had gone unnoticed by everyone.
