Final Day: Complete Ration Card E-KYC Today!

The Telangana Government, following orders from the Central Government, initiated the Ration Card E-KYC process to stop any irregularities in ration distribution and weed out fake cards. This process is wrapping up today after an extension from the initial deadline of January 31 to the end of February. Officials from the Civil Supplies Department urge those who haven’t completed the e-KYC to visit nearby ration shops, where they can submit their fingerprints through the e-POS machine to finish the process. If not done, they’ve made it clear that ration supply will halt starting next month.

Family members listed on the ration card are required to visit the nearest ration shop and provide their ration card numbers and fingerprints. This information will be linked with Aadhaar. Once done, they’ll receive a receipt from the e-POS machine confirming completion of the e-KYC process. This can be done at any ration shop across the state, and all family members don’t need to do it simultaneously. Officials emphasize that e-KYC can be completed anytime and anywhere.

Currently, only 80% of people in Telangana have finished this process, with 20% yet to do so. Technical issues with the e-POS machine seem to be causing delays. Many are requesting another deadline extension for e-KYC. It remains to be seen how the central government will address this matter.
