Telangana Government Schools Will Close For Two Days

Two days of holiday for government schools have been announced on the occasion of the Telangana assembly election. Government has declared a holiday as the services of teachers and school buildings are being used for election duties. As the polling is on the 30th of this month, school holidays were given on that day as well as on the previous day, i.e. on the 29th and 30th.


There are 1.06 lakh teachers (Govt Teachers) in the state, and 80 per cent of them participate in election duties. Government schools will be polling centres. As everything had to be prepared a day before, polling day and the previous day were declared as holidays. Teachers have to report to collect EVMs before 7 am on the 29th of this month. But the teachers demanded another day of leave.

Rajabhanu Chandraprakash, President of the Gazetted Principals’ Association, and Bhootham Yakamallu, the State President of the Telangana Ideal School Teachers’ Association, said, it will be midnight on the 30th until the polling is completed and submitted, so it will be challenging to participate in the duties immediately on the next day, That is why we have asked for a holiday on December 1.
