High Court Gives Permission To Elections In Singareni

The High Court has given clarity on the issue of the Singareni elections in Telangana. The High Court allowed the elections to be held on the 27th of this month. The court dismissed the interim petition filed by the State Energy Department seeking the postponement of the Singareni elections.

However, after the election of the Singareni Identity Society held in 2017, the elections were to be held four years back. It is getting postponed due to many reasons. A dispute has been going on in the High Court for four years over the term limit of the Singareni recognition labour union and the conduct of elections. The management, government and labour unions approach the High Court from time to time for different reasons.

The elections to be held in April and May were ordered to be held on October 30 with the intervention of the court. To this extent, the Labor Department has also prepared for the elections and released a notification for the election of the Singareni Identification Committee. After nominations, withdrawals and allotment of marks, some trade unions again approached Singareni management and the government. Due to the release of the Telangana Assembly election notification and the conduct of the election, it was requested to postpone the election of the recognition committee. The full bench of the High Court suggested that elections should be held again on December 27. RLC, Election Returning Officer Srinivasan restarted the election process.
