Mahalakshmi Scheme: These are the conditions for Rs 500 gas cylinder

The Commissioner of the Civil Supplies Department of Telangana met with gas agency representatives. On this occasion, many issues related to the Mahalakshmi scheme were discussed. It seems that the government has made some decisions considering the regulations of oil companies, other financial aspects, the possibility of manipulations etc.

On the supply of subsidized gas cylinders under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the Civil Supplies Department of Telangana has decided to give gas cylinders for Rs 500 through cash transfer only. Under this system, consumers pay the full price while taking the cylinder. After that, the government will transfer the subsidy amount of Rs.500 to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The Department of Civil Supplies has also finalized various policies regarding the implementation of the scheme.

Criteria for Rs 500 Gas Cylinder (Mahalakshmi)

  • The scheme is not applicable to new gas connections.
  • Subsidy is applicable only for those who have white ration cards and the cylinders that are already in use
  • The number of subsidized cylinders is decided based on the average number of cylinders consumed by household consumers in the last three years.
  • As of now, 40 lakh female candidates have been finalized. The scheme started with them
  • NPCI will act as the platform for money transfers in this scheme.
  • After supplying the cylinders to the beneficiaries, NPCI will transfer the money to the beneficiaries from the money in the nodal bank.
