11 thousand crores for Farmer Assurance

Congress promised in its manifesto to disburse Rs.15,000 per acre annually under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Several Congress ministers and leaders have announced that hundreds of crores worth wastelands were looted and given to landlords in the previous government and that funds will be released only after a review of all this. It is in this background that there are no funds in the treasury and 11 thousand crores are required for the implementation of Rythu Bharosa. Since the amount is not in the treasury, there is a campaign on social media that the Rythu Bharosa funds will not be released now. This is causing concern among the farmers.

Investment assistance is as per the old system

As the work related to the Yasangi (Rabi) season has already started and the guidelines regarding the Rythu Bharosa scheme have not yet been finalised, CM Revanth Reddy ordered the officials to release funds for crop investment assistance as per the old method. The previous government used to release Rs.5 thousand per acre every six months. Rs.10,000 in two instalments in a year. It seems likely that Rythu Bharosa will be implemented from next season. The procedure for identifying tenant farmers is also to be finalized. Congress has promised to provide financial assistance to tenant farmers as well.

Harish Rao’s remarks had stopped by Rythu Bandhu

Earlier, during the elections, the BRS party sought permission from the EC to disburse Rythu Bandhu into the farmers’ account, and it gave permission for the release of funds. In this order, EC advised that no one should make any comments about Rythu Bandhu. However, BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao mentioned the issue of Rythu Bandhu in the election campaign. Taking Harish Rao’s comments seriously, the EC put a brake on the release of funds.
