Telangana Auto Union Announces Statewide Strike on 16th

TSRTC’s free bus travel scheme for women introduced by the Telangana government is resulting in a loss of livelihood for auto drivers. Vehicle associations have announced a statewide auto strike on the 16th of this month, seeking justice for the loss of income due to the Telangana government’s free bus travel scheme for women. Members of the Telangana Motor Transport Vehicle Joint Action Committee have met with the Transport Commissioner and submitted a strike notice regarding this matter. They stated that the strike is being organized in opposition to the policies of the central and state governments, which are against the interests of transport sector workers.

The TATU Auto Union announced that unions such as BRTU, CITU, FUTU, and IFTU, among others, have expressed their support for the strike. TAATU demanded that the government should support the auto drivers in Telangana, whose lives have been halted due to the free bus scheme. They suggested the establishment of a welfare board for the benefit of transport sector workers. They demanded support for auto drivers and the establishment of a welfare board for transport sector workers. They requested a monthly payment of Rs. 15,000 for each auto driver. They warned that if the government does not respond, they will intensify their agitation.
