TS: Rahul Sits Down With Poor Workers, ‘Will Solve Your Problems’

In Hyderabad, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met with various communities in the city as part of the election campaign. As part of that, Rahul talked to delivery boys, auto drivers, sanitation workers and gig workers. On this occasion, they told him their problems.

The Agony Of Sanitary Workers

They asked Rahul to ensure that they are provided with facilities like ESI and PF. They expressed their concern that all the money earned goes to petrol. The sanitary workers told Rahul that they were not given double bedrooms or a pension. Rahul told them that a scheme is being implemented in Rajasthan for the social security of gig workers. A portion of each transaction is earmarked for gig workers’ social security, he said. Jubilee Hills Congress candidate Azharuddin also participated in the event.

Police Harassment of Cab and Auto Drivers

Sanitation workers of GHMC expressed concern that accidents are happening frequently to them. The delivery boys asked Rahul to provide accident insurance saying that they are prone to accidents. On the other hand, sanitation workers have alleged that contract employees are being harassed in GHMC. They expressed their grief to Rahul saying that they would give two-bedroom houses. The contractors expressed concern that they were working for 11 hours. They complained that they were being asked to quit their jobs if they asked for facilities. Cab and auto drivers said that the police were harassing them with challans.

Rahul Promised To Solve Their Problems

The gig workers alleged that the company is holding them responsible for any problem. They complained that even if they work all day they are not getting even 1000 rupees. They claim that no one cares about their welfare. They explained to Rahul that the company was blocking their ID even if they had done nothing wrong. After listening to everyone’s problems, Rahul said that if they are given one chance, they will solve all of their problems once they come to power. Rahul Gandhi promised that once the Congress wins, all the ministers including the CM will meet with the workers and discuss the problems and show the solution.
