Assembly Polls: CM Leaves Without Voting But 101-Year-Old Man Votes

Polling for the assembly elections is going on in Chhattisgarh along with the northeastern state of Mizoram. Voters lined up at the polling stations since morning to exercise their right to vote. In the early hours, the Chief Minister of Mizoram tried vigorously to cast his vote at the booth, but the EVM did not work.

Mizoram CM Turned Back After EVM Malfunction

Mizo National Front President and CM Zoramthanga went to the polling station 19-Aizawl Venglai-I under the Aizawl North-2 Constituency. But he could not vote as the EVM was not working there. After waiting for some time, they turned back. There are 40 assembly constituencies in Mizoram and 174 candidates are contesting. Voting is going on for all the seats in one phase. As part of the first phase, polling will be held in Bastar, Jagdalpur and Chitrakot till 5 pm. In the problematic areas, polling will end at 3 pm.

Explosion in Chhattisgarh During Polling

Polling is going on in the first phase of 20 seats in Chhattisgarh. As polling is going on in 7 districts of Maoist-affected areas, police have put up heavy security. In this sequence, the occurrence of an IED explosion in the Tondamarka area of Sukma district is causing a stir. A CRPF jawan was injured in the blast.

A 101-year-old man has exercised his right to vote

A 101-year-old man exercised his right to vote during the polling for the Mizoram assembly elections. The old man voted along with his wife in Champhai South Assembly Constituency. Along with 101-year-old man, his 86-year-old wife also exercised her right to vote.

In this election, Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and Congress parties have fielded their candidates in a total of 40 seats. BJP has fielded its candidates in 23 and Aam Aadmi Party in 4 seats.
