Bheemili Seat Conflict – TDP Internal Rift and Janasena’s Bold Claim!

The political atmosphere in AP is heating up well before the assembly elections. While the ruling party YSRCP is aggressively aiming for a clean sweep in all 175 seats in these elections, the rivalry between TDP and Janasena as part of their alliance over seat allocation continues. Recently, a significant contest has emerged between TDP and Janasena over the Bheemili seat in the Visakhapatnam district. While Janasena’s in-charge Panchakarla Sandeep has declared the Bheemili ticket to be theirs, TDP’s in-charge Korada Rajababu and Visakhapatnam North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao are reportedly focusing on the same ticket.

Mutual Criticisms Among Themselves

It is also known that Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan is taking the Bheemili seat issue seriously. Despite Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan potentially reaching an agreement on this issue, members and leaders from both parties continue to exchange criticisms openly. It’s noteworthy that the groups of Korada Raja Babu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, and Panchakarla have not attended each other’s events so far, highlighting their divisions. On the other hand, there are reports that Ganta Srinivasa Rao conducted a survey in Bheemili, which predicted his certain victory, leading him to decide to contest from there. This issue has sparked a war between Janasena and TDP, and within TDP, Korada Raja Babu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao have split into two factions.

Sentiment for TDP

Bheemili constituency is a stronghold for TDP. Since 1983, out of nine general elections, TDP has won six times from the Bheemili constituency. TDP was defeated only on three occasions: by Congress in 2004, Prajarajyam in 2009, and YSRCP in 2019. In the 2019 elections, the TDP candidate came second, and out of their total votes, the Janasena candidate got about 24,000 votes, which is a quarter of those votes. Similarly, with Prajarajyam winning the 2009 elections, Janasena is also not willing to give up on this seat, indicating a strong commitment to it. In the 2019 elections, TDP receiving 92,000 votes has led both the local leaders and the high command to view this seat sentimentally. This has caused concern among many about how far the conflict between the two parties over this seat will go.
