COVID-19 update: Deaths and cases across India as of Jan 2nd

Coronavirus continues to spread in India. 573 coronavirus cases were revealed in the last 24 hours. With the fresh cases, the number of active cases in the country rose to 4,565. Two deaths were reported yesterday. One in Haryana and one in Karnataka. So far the number of people who have died due to COVID has increased to 5,33,366. The number of people who have recovered from Covid is 4,44,76,550.

On the other hand, the cases of Corona’s new variant JN.1 are also increasing massively across the country. 196 cases of JN.1 have been reported in the country. Kerala has the highest number with 83, followed by Goa (51), Gujarat (34), Karnataka (8), Maharashtra (7), Rajasthan (5), Tamil Nadu (4), Telangana (2), Odisha (1) and Delhi (1).
