Fog Engulfs Delhi, Severely Affects Air Traffic

The national capital, Delhi, is currently shrouded in dense fog, causing people to be practically invisible in various parts of the city. The thick fog has led to significant disruptions in air traffic at Delhi airport, impacting the Runway Visual Range (RVR), according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The reduced visibility is severely affecting the landing and take-off of planes, with the runway being visibly limited to just 500 meters until 9:45 am on Monday.

The adverse fog conditions have resulted in delayed and diverted flight services throughout the early morning, affecting both domestic and international flights. The IMD report indicates that the current temperature in Delhi is 9.4 degrees Celsius, contributing to the visibility dropping to a mere 125 meters. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has risen to around 400, indicating deteriorating air quality. Additionally, adverse weather conditions in Hyderabad led to the diversion of a flight from Bangalore to Hyderabad back to Bangalore. The combined impact of reduced temperatures and dense fog is causing significant challenges for the residents of Delhi.
