Health Department Warns Telangana Residents Amidst Soaring Temperatures

The heat is scorching in Telangana temperatures are being recorded at record levels, sparking fires. On one hand, the severity of the heat, and on the other, the whirlwinds are making people panic. With this, the Telangana Health Department has issued key precautions to be taken during this time. They advised against wandering on the roads during noon. If necessary, one should only go outside; otherwise, it’s suggested to stay indoors and protect one’s health.

In light of the soaring temperatures in the state of Telangana, the Health Department has advised against venturing outside from 12 PM to 4 PM unless absolutely necessary. It has particularly urged the elderly and children to exercise caution during this period. To prevent health issues arising from the heat, the Commissioner of the Health and Family Welfare Department, R.V. Chandravadan, has issued guidance and recommendations for the public.

They have advised against working, playing, or walking outside barefoot in the heat. It has also been recommended to ensure that children and pets do not enter parked vehicles. Staying away from the kitchen between 12 PM and 4 PM is considered wise. It’s suggested to avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, sweets, and cold drinks. Symptoms such as body temperatures exceeding 40.5°C, excessive sweating, thirst, dizziness, weakness, headaches, and muscle cramps call for immediate attention.

During this time, it is advised to consume more fluids, coconut water, and buttermilk. Traffic police, individuals engaged in rural employment guarantee works, journalists and those who travel frequently should take extra precautions. ORS packets are made readily available at Anganwadi centres and primary health centres. It’s important to ensure that drinking water is not contaminated as there’s a higher risk of food and water pollution during this season. The government has suggested increasing the setup of water camps and buttermilk centres.
