Himachal Pradesh Grapples with Heavy Snowfall

Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh led to the closure of over 260 roads, including four national highways, on Tuesday. Parts of Rajasthan experienced light to moderate rainfall due to cyclonic activity in the Mediterranean region. Rohtang La Pass in Himachal Pradesh received a record-breaking 135 cm of snowfall in the past 24 hours. Moderate to heavy rainfall was observed across the state, with Chamba and Kufri receiving 67 mm and 57 mm of rain, respectively. Thunderstorms and lightning affected several areas in Hamirpur district, disrupting 661 transformers and 33 water supply schemes. Heavy snowfall also occurred in Sissu, Solang, Atal Tunnel, and Rohtang La, leading to the suspension of vehicular traffic in Manali.

Meanwhile, several areas in Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, saw light to moderate rainfall. Jaisalmer received the highest rainfall with 39 mm, while Sikar recorded 10 mm. Light rain was reported in Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. However, many parts of the state remained dry. Dry weather is expected to persist for the next three to four days. On Tuesday, Chiru recorded a temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius, while other areas experienced temperatures around 21 degrees Celsius.
