Lord Ganesh’s Balapur Laddu: Record Price For Balapur Laddu. How Much?
Lord Ganesh’s Balapur Laddu, which is famous not only in Telangana but also all over the country, commanded the highest price. This time, Dasari Dayanand Reddy of Turkayanjal got Laddu for Rs. 27 lakhs. A total of 36 people, including 20 locals, competed in this auction. Balapur Utsava Samiti started the auction with Rs. 1,116.
Telangana Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and former MLA Thigala Krishna Reddy, along with many public representatives, started the Balapur Ganesha Shobhayatra after the auction was over, and Vigneshwara is being taken to Hussain Sagar in a special vehicle. Balapur Ganesha Shobhayatra will reach Hussainsagar via Chandrayanagutta, Shalibanda, Falaknuma, and Charminar.
This year marks 30 years since the start of the Balapur Laddu Auction. For the first time in 1994, when the laddu in Lord Ganesh’s hand was auctioned, Mohan Reddy, a local farmer’s pool, bought it for Rs. 450.
Until about 17 years old, only locals had the opportunity to buy laddoos. Later, people from outside started participating and getting them. So far, the laddoos have been auctioned 28 times. In the background of Corona, in 2020, they were given to Chief Minister KCR. The Utsava Samiti has been undertaking many development programs with the proceeds from the laddoos.
