South Central Railway Announces Semi-High Speed Corridors to Telugu States

South Central Railway has declared plans to establish a double line between Bhadrachalam Road and Dornakal at an estimated cost of Rs.770.12 crores. Officials revealed that Rs.100 crore has been allocated in the central budget for this project. The expansion includes bypass lines at Vikarabad and Vishnupuram stations, facilitating efficient connectivity for a 4,000 megawatt super thermal power plant near Vishnupuram railway station in Nalgonda district.

As part of the project, 2.8 km bypass lines in Vikarabad and 4.9 km in Vishnupuram will be constructed. This will streamline the movement of goods trains, eliminating the need for engine changes for rerouted passenger trains and improving travel time for passengers. Additionally, South Central Railway announced the initiation of two semi-high-speed corridors for Telugu states. The pet survey for the Shamshabad-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada-Kurnool corridors, with trains expected to run at speeds of 220 km per hour, will be completed by March. The completion of these corridors is anticipated to reduce travel time between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to just four and a half hours. The estimated cost for these projects is around Rs.20,000 crore.
