Death Anniversary of Tallapaka Annamacharya

Annamayya or Tallapaka Annamacharya died on 23 February 1503. According to the evidence available in the history of Telugu literature, he was the first Vaggeyakara (composer). Annamayya has the title of Pada Kavita Pitamaha. He wrote more than 32,000 hymns glorifying Sri Venkateswara Swamy of Tirumala, Narasimha Swamy of Ahobilam and other traditional Vaishnava deities.

Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu’s birthday

Senior TDP leader Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu was born on February 23, 1957, in Nimmada, Kotabommali mandal of Srikakulam district. He joined the Telugu Desam Party founded by NTR and won as MLA from Harishchandrapuram in 1982. He was elected from the Srikakulam seat for the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha. He also took charge as Union Minister.

Kaleshwaram Project Inauguration

The Mallannasagar Reservoir built as part of the Kaleshwaram project was inaugurated on February 23, 2022, by the then Chief Minister KCR. Later he dedicated this project to the nation. However, two months ago, the BRS government was accused of corruption due to the collapse of a few pillars of the Medigadda barrage, a part of the Kaleswaram project. At present, doubts are being expressed on many aspects of this Kaleshwaram project, such as designs, durability, and misappropriation of funds.

AR Rahman’s Double Oscars

In the world of music, AR Rahman is a name that needs no introduction. He is the first Indian to win two Academy Awards. Rahman received the Oscars in the categories of Best Original Song (Jai ho) and Best Original Score for the film Slumdog Millionaire on February 23, 2009. AR Rahman, who started his journey as a music director with ‘Roja’, has composed music in multiple languages and in multiple countries in his career.

  • Indian American lawyer Sri Srinivasan was born on February 23, 1967, in Chandigarh. His family migrated to America in 1960. Sri Srinivasan created history as the first Indian to be appointed as the second highest court judge in America, the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
  • Indian model and actor Karan Singh Grover was born on February 23, 1982, in Delhi. He acted in many television serials and Bollywood films and won many awards. He married the famous actress Bipasha Basu.
  • Former US President John Quincy Adams died on February 23, 1848.
