Death Anniversary of Sachindra Nath Sanyal

Sachindra Nath Sanyal, the famous revolutionary who fought for India’s freedom, died today. He actively participated in national and revolutionary movements and was the representative of the new generation of revolutionaries. The ‘Hindustan Republican Association’ founded by him in 1923 was developed by Bhagat Singh and other colleagues into the ‘Hindustan Socialist Democratic Union’. After Bose went to Japan, Sanyal was considered the most senior leader of the Indian revolutionary movement. Sanyal was later sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in a conspiracy. During this time he wrote the book ‘Bandi Jeevan’.

Kidambi Srikanth’s Birthday

Today is the birthday of Kidambi Srikanth, one of the best badminton players in the country. Born on February 7, 1993, in Ravulapalem, Andhra Pradesh, he reached the number one position in the world rankings and became the first Indian to win a silver medal at the World Championships. On March 21, 2018, he received the ‘Padma Shri’ award at the hands of President Ram Nath Kovind. Similarly, in 2015 he received the Arjuna Award too.

Bollywood actor Sujeeth Kumar’s birth anniversary

Famous Bollywood actor, Bhojpuri superstar and producer Sujeeth Kumar’s birth anniversary is today. He was born on February 7, 1934, in Banaras, British India. He worked as an actor in the Hindi film industry for more than four decades. He made a name for himself with the Hindi films Aaradhana (1969), Ittefaq (1969, Dharam Veer (1977)) and later worked as a producer in the Bollywood industry for the films Anubhav (1986), Asman Se Ooncha (1989) and Khel (1992). He died on 5 February 2010 in Mumbai.

Veturi Prabhakara Shastri Jayanti

Today is the birth anniversary of the versatile Veturi Prabhakara Sastri. He was born on February 7, 1888, at Pedakallapally in Mopidevi Mandal of Krishna District. Prabhakara Sastri made his mark as a poet, historian, legislative researcher and publisher of the Anthology of Ancient Andhra. He is the one who invented the first Telugu word ‘Nagabu’ which is available in history. He wrote epic poems like ‘Kaliki Chiluka’, ‘Kadupu Teepi’, ‘Divyadarshanam’, ‘Moonnalla Macchata’ and ‘Kapotakatha’. Famous lyricist Veturi Sundararammurthy is the son of his younger brother.

Yemeni women’s rights activist Tawakkol Karman was born on 7 February 1979. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 for her role in leading the pro-democracy protest movement. At the age of 32, she is the youngest recipient of this award.
